Operating Software and User Interface


The first thing everyone points out is the difference between the OS. Apple’s iPad Air runs on Apple’s trademark iOS 7 which is much better and user friendly than all of the previous versions. Whereas Samsung runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS which is clearly the best thing happened to Android yet. It is a fact that Apple’s iOS has the most wide-range of tablet-optimized apps as compared to any other OS but Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is considered the best modification done to Android OS as it enhances the personalization options and also the increases multitasking of Galaxy Note 10.1. We could call it a draw but as Samsung’s Note 10.1 has outclassed Apple iPad Air in many tests, therefore in the competition Apple iPad Air vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Samsung is the winner here.

Display and Design    

Samsung Note 10.1 is a full sized Tablet boasting a 10.1″ Super clear LCD capacitive display which delivers 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution at 299 ppi pixel density. Apple Air has an almost-full sized 9.7 LED-backlit IPS LCD which has a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels at 264 ppi pixel density. Apple’s tablet seems to be clearly lacking in this field but practically both displays give HD results and a user cannot simply spot any flaw in either of the displays. The design of Note 10.1 is breath-taking as it has beautiful curvy body along with stitched leather back panel which gives a comfortable feeling. While Apple iPad Air as its name suggests is extremely light weight and is carved out from a single piece of Anodized Aluminium which makes it very sleek and handy. So here in the competition between Apple iPad Air vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 no one is loser.

Hardware-Firepower

It is very simple, both of the Companies use separate technologies so there is no competition between Apple iPad Air vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.But for the sake of comparison Samsung has huge power under its hood. The Note 10.1 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU with a Quad-core Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz along with Adreno 330 GPU. Whereas Apple used it’s recently launched 64-bit based Apple A7 chipset along with Cyclone (ARM v8-based) Dual-core processor running at 1.3 GHz and PowerVR G6430 GPU. Samsung’s tab is the clear winner here due to one more reason, that it has 3 GB of RAM as compared to Apple’s iPad Air which has 1 GB RAM though it is sufficient for an iDevice.

Camera, Battery and Storage  

Samsung Note 10.1 has a 8 MP camera having 3264×2448 pixel resolution whereas Apple iPad Air has a 5 MP camera with 2592 x 1944 pixel resolution but no one can judge a camera by the pixel size. It comes down to the picture result in which both have almost equal result in daylight as well as low light. Apple iPad Air vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 cannot be completed without comparing the battery timing; Samsung Note 10.1 runs straight 10 hours on a complete charge but Apple iPad Air lacks greatly and is completely exhausted after 7 hours but the company claims 10 hours of battery life. iPad Air is available 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128 GB options while Note 10.1 has 16GB, 32GB and 64GB but it also has SD card option.

Samsung has clearly outperformed Apple in all fields and is the winner in this competition.
